Here’s what we’re wearing to stay WARM (but look cool) this winter

Winter is here! With the chances of polar vortexes, bomb cyclones, and epic snowstorms ahead, there are a few things you need to have in your closet to keep you warm and fashionable. Here’s what we’re wearing to stay WARM (but look cool) this winter.

A Fashionable Warm Coat

Long gone are the days of over-sized sleeping bag-ish coats. This winter the must-have item is a chic, body-skimming coat that looks great on you, but is also warm and cozy. Some of the most stylish, sophisticated coats we’ve seen this season will keep you toasty on the chilliest of days. Santa (aka me) purchased this Jcrew beauty as a Xmas gift for moi and I love its look and warmth.

Statement Sweaterfashion

Every New England lady knows the importance of a good sweater. This season the sweaters are bold, beautiful, and eye-catching. This blue sweater is from Loft but I also have some from Old Navy, Gap, and JCrew. I paired the super soft sweater with skinny jeans and my fav ankle booties

Boots with the Furwear

If you haven’t already snagged a pair of stylish snow boots, you should probably get on that. A good pair of snow boots will keep your tootsies warm and dry. I wore these fashion favorites during the bomb cyclone and my toes have no complaints and no frostbite. I like to pair mine with ski socks or a wool blend sock for extra warmth. I also love my Keen snow boots and have been known to sport my Hunter boots with liners during the winter months.

Top That

wearFashion is all about the accessories and the winter season is no different. A great way to add color and texture to your outfit of the day is an awesome winter hat. Winter hats are practical in so many ways; they keep you warm and cover up your not washed hair. My go-to is usually a pom pom hat or beanie but I love this flap hat from Old Navy. Of course, as with most of my outfits, I am also wearing leggings

A recovering “type a” perfectionist she is learning to let go of her color coding, alphabetizing ways and embrace the mess. Helping her enjoy life’s everyday messes are her two precocious girls Sofie (11/15/11) and Keira (9/7/13). Nikki loves all things mommy cliché including but not limited to walks on the beach, running, reality TV, organizing closets, wine, chocolate and having her kids help her out in the kitchen.
